Job Title: Research Assistant

Location: Delhi, India

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description: The IJR is seeking a proactive and dedicated Research Assistant to join our team and work closely with its chief editor. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  1. Content Creation: Review literature and legislation toward identifying subject matter relevant to the Report in order to develop ideas and create detailed, factual, and organized content for articles, essays and studies that revolve around IJR concerns and general issues of justice delivery.

  2. Brand Building: Develop and execute varied tasks to enhance the IJR brand. This includes developing a presence on social and traditional media.

  3. Advocacy Support: Assisting in all advocacy-related activities including initiating conversations and engaging with stakeholders including law schools, policy makers, bureaucrats, corporate and civil society entities, commerce, media groups, and think tanks.

  4. Administrative Support: assisting in writing proposals, updates and reports to funders, creating PowerPoint presentations, taking meeting minutes, calendar management and setting reminders.

  5. Additional Tasks: Performing any other work required by the team.

Qualifications:

  • A background in law and its procedures, human rights, journalism, social work and related subjects with knowledge

  • Prior experience of research methods and writing will be preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in use of statistical software like Excel, SPSS etc.

  • Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint

  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Note: The role requires more than just fulfilling pre-ordained tasks. It requires initiative and a proactive approach to work. Candidate will be expected to join immediately.

Experience: 1-3 years experience in research in the criminal justice system or allied sectors.

Remuneration: Remuneration will be competitive with Indian non-profit pay scales and will depend upon the candidate’s experience levels and the overall organization’s salary structure.
